The Darkness II Review

 The Darkness II
  • Quad-Wielding Chaos Redefines the FPS Genre: slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with the Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons for an all-out assault on multiple assailants.
  • Harness Unstoppable Darkness Powers: Master the Demon Arms and summon the powers of the Darkness for even more explosive gameplay. Talent Shrines also offer upgrades, from collected essence, for weapons and Darkness Powers.
  • Distinctive Graphic-Noir Art Style: Hand-painted textures, shading and color give a rich and unique visual style that pays tribute to the source material and brings the pages of the comic series to life.
  • Kill the Lights: The vicious powers of the Darkness manifest only in shadows, so use the environment as an advantage and strategize against enemies who will use light as a weapon.
  • Intense and Personal Journey: Experience a dark, twisted and gripping story written exclusively for the game by acclaimed comic book author Paul Jenkins whose credits also include The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, and the original The Darkness game.

The Darkness II is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 release The Darkness. Inspired by the popular comic book series produced by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is an intense first person shooter that delivers a twisted and gripping narrative of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror. Players will be taken down the brutal and personal path of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness. The Darkness II stands out visually with its distinctive graphic noir style, and it is the only first person shooter to feature Quad-Wielding : the ability to simultaneously utilize four different weapons. It's been two years since Jackie Estacado used the Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend's murder. He's been unable to shake the memory of Jenny's death since bottling up his supernatural power and now the Darkness wants out. A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie's life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war and opens the door for the Darkness to reemerge. The botched attempt sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of the Darkness itself.  click here more info

Cross Edge features characters and storylines from popular franchises including: DarkstalkersDisgaeaMana Khemia, and Spectral SoulsCross Edge is action-packed with memorable characters, amazing items, and over-the-top battles to deliver an once-in-a-lifetime gaming experience.
Story
The story of Cross Edge follows the adventures of hero and heroine York Neely and Miki Aiba. Awaking in a strange world, they are soon sought out by a little girl named May. She tells them that the world around them was created from souls gathered from other worlds and that if this stealing of souls from other places does not stop, sooner or later those other places--that is reality--will disappear forever. To stop this from happening they will have to defeat this new world's evil master by releasing all the souls now confined to his nightmare world. To do this they will need all the special abilities that they possess, as well as the help they will gain from others that they meet on their travels.
Gameplay
Cross Edge is a traditional Japanese role-playing game complete with world map, random battles, level grinding, item combining/creation using alchemy, etc. It also features heroes and villains from game franchises published by Gust, Capcom, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai and Idea Factory. As players set about freeing the trapped souls supporting the nightmare world that they are stuck in, they engage in turn-based team battles. This is where the characters from previous games come in. Players must enlist them to join in party-based battles. Success in these battles is based on the ability to string together specific moves into chain attack sequences, which in turn unlock even stronger combinations when successful. Players can also increase their characters' stats and abilities by acquiring additional costumes called 'forms' and redressing their characters in them. Female characters physical appearances can also be changed based on the form they're wearing.
The goal of the game is to release souls. You can find and collect souls by searching around area maps. Exposure to souls can grant players items or unlock events. Along with soul related events, maps will also point players to other helpful locations such as event points, points at which other events may occur, and save points, where you can save your game as well as buy, sell and trade items.
Key Features
  • Cross Edge combines classic RPG combat with a grid-based Strategy RPG combat to create a hybrid battle system. In combat, a square grid will appear beneath the units. Some units are better at close combat and others at a distance, so players must strategically move their units to battle enemies.
  • In combat, some units can toss up enemies and chain combo various moves for extra damage, like in a fighting game.
  • By using characters from Gust titles, players can use alchemy to craft weapons.
  • Change costumes to increase character’s stats and abilities, and in some cases revealing cut scenes.
  • Explore dungeons to run, jump and attack.
  • Cross Edge is bilingual. Players have the option to choose between English or Japanese voiceovers.
  • Add to your PlayStation trophy collection as you play through the game.http://www.amazon.com/Crossedge

Metal Gear Solid Rising Review Pre Order

Metal Gear Solid RisingPlatform: PLAYSTATION 3

Players assume control of Raiden, protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and supporting character in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. A key gameplay feature for the game is titled zan-datsu, which involves "cutting" through enemies and "taking" parts from the bodies of dismembered cyborgs and robots. Rising's stealth elements will emphasize Raiden's considerable speed and agility through what Matsuyama describes as "hunting stealth." Unlike the "waiting stealth" of previous titles, in which players remained hidden and avoided combat, players in Rising will instead quickly stalk their enemies and use acrobatic maneuvers to stay out of sight while closing in. This ties in with the game's zan-datsu feature, allowing them to prey upon enemies to obtain weapons, items, and energy.
After a lengthy stay on the back burner, Metal Gear Solid: Rising returned to the forefront this week as Konami reintroduced the title as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The big revelation about the spin-off to the Metal Gear Solid series was that it is now being developed by Vanquish and Bayonetta studio Platinum Games, but Konami has revealed that's far from the only change the project has undergone.
The publisher has launched the game's official website, with new details about the new-look Revengeance. First, the game's story has changed places in the Metal Gear timeline. Originally, Metal Gear Solid: Rising was intended to take place before the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, showing how the character of Raiden made his transformation into the cyborg ninja of the 2007 PlayStation 3 hit. However, when Platinum Games was attached to the project, the time frame was moved to several years after Metal Gear Solid 4, to a time when cyborgs are becoming more commonplace in the world.
That goes hand in hand with another change to the game. While Metal Gear Solid: Rising was originally intended to showcase a mix of stealth and action gameplay, Revengeance drops the stealth aspect to focus exclusively on action. Konami also dropped the "Solid" from the title to distance itself from the particular brand of stealth action people associate with the Metal Gear Solid series.
In a series of posts today on his Twitter account, Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba addressed the perception that the change to Revengeance was undertaken because Kojima Productions couldn't make Metal Gear Solid: Rising work.
"It seems there are some who wish to imply PlatinumGames was able to achieve what Kojima Productions could not--interviewers among them," Inaba said, continuing, "This notion is spurious. Clearly, we have not yet produced any results in the world of Metal Gear."
While Inaba acknowledged that the changes made to the game have met with mixed reactions, he also stressed that not everything from the original vision for Metal Gear Solid: Rising has been abandoned.
"[Metal Gear Solid: Rising's] concept excited us," Inaba said. "We have love and respect for it, as we do the character of Raiden and the idea of freely cutting anything apart."
For more on that core concept, check out this video
